Fightclean.com was developed for two primary purposes:
1. Develop the most effective products to decrease transmission of infectious diseases,
especially MRSA, Ringworm, Hepatitis and HIV.
2. Decrease fighter infections through identifying and testing at-risk fighters
Fightclean.com will be linked and associated with two other websites,
www.mmams.com
and
www.fightMD.com, sites for fighters and ringside physicians. The Mixed Martial
Arts Medical Society (MMAMS) website,
www.mmams.com, will be a subscription
based
educational and training resource for medical providers to prepare them to
safely assess and treat fighters during combat. Many ringside physicians are unprepared
for the complexities or managing injured fighters. Better training is needed to protect
and treat these athletes.
We are also developing a free medical information site,
www.fightMD.com where fighters
and trainers can go to get more information on fight related injuries, injury
and disease prevention.
Both
www.mmams.com and
www.fightMD.com should go live by Feb. 2007.
Professional fighting has many inherent risks but one of them shouldn’t be the transmission
of infectious disease from one fighter to another. Fightclean.com locates superior,
professional and hospital grade disinfectant systems and blood testing equipment. Our
first product, Mat Attack, is manufactured in Canada and has been thoroughly and
rigorously tested in hospital and sports environments. The combination of fast acting
bacteria and viral killing agents results in a product far more effective than traditional
over the counter disinfectants and hand-mixed bleach washes. Carefully designed
studies have reached 99%
kill rate for MRSA with Mat Attack. Later,
our disinfectant
line will also include mouth guard disinfectants which can be used during a fight to
clean a displaced mouth guard.
In our second phase of development we hope to streamline and reduce the cost of routine
and periodic blood testing for professional fighters and use this information to develop a
database of infection-free fighters. This will have several beneficial effects for the fighting
communities.
First, an infected fighter can potentially transmit disease to his fighting partners and his
competitors. At this point in the evolution of MMA fighting this should not be acceptable.
It is undeniable that some infections can be transmittted from one cut fighter to another.
We need to identify infected fighters so that the risk of transmission of disease is reduced.
Second, the cost of testing fighters for infectious disease is for some athletes and promoters
prohibitively high. We will work with various vendors and funding sources to reduce this
cost and pass it on to the fighters.
We are strong supporters of the MMA, kick boxing and professional boxing communities.
Minimizing avoidable risk of infection will help the sport continue to maintain its explosive
growth and provide the high quality competition we all enjoy.
